- Check your winter protection is still working for you – survey any stakes, supports and ties that might have been damaged in bad weather.
- Get a head start on pruning, now is a good time to cut back wisteria, rose bushes and ornamental grasses.
- The wet winter months are a haven for weeds. Make sure to keep up with removing weeds, roots and all. Winter is a good time to really detail planters and boarders and get things cleared out for spring.
- Keeping your bird houses accessible and bird feeders full will attract birds which in turn eat garden pests, ensuring a healthy garden.
- Winter is a good time to do any work needing to be done to your patios, decks and pavers, like removing moss or resetting any leveling issues you may have.
- Don’t forget to take a look at your trees. Winds and heavy rain can cause damage to already stressed trees and increase the potential for fallen limbs.
- Now is a good time to check your outdoor lighting fixtures and replace any broken ones and check all your lightbulbs too.
- With warm weather coming you’re going to want to be out and enjoying it so make to look for loose arms and legs on your patio furniture. Take a look at the current condition of your cushions and covers too, the off season is always the best time to stock up on these kinds of things.
